Constructware Sells to Autodesk for $46 Million

San Rafael, Calif.-based Autodesk has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Constructware of Alpharetta, Ga., for $46 million. Constructware, founded in 1994, is a nationally recognized provider of collaborative technology solutions for the construction industry. Autodesk is expected to expand its Buzzsaw product with Constructware's capabilities.

"Autodesk and Constructware have always shared a common vision of fulfilling customer requirements as they pertain to the building lifecycle, and our customers should expect the combined organization to accelerate delivery of stronger, integrated and more complete products and services to meet that vision," said Scott Unger, president and CEO of Constructware, in a press statement announcing the sale.

Central Florida NAIOP Recognized for Establishing UCF School

The Central Florida chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties received the national "Large Chapter Community Service Award" for its successful efforts in establishing a School of Real Estate at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The award was presented at the National NAIOP Leadership Conference, held recently in Washington, D.C.

Cummins Power South is Newest Joint Venture Distributorship

Cummins Power South LLC is the newest joint venture distributorship in the Cummins North America distributor system. Cummins Power South joins the distributor territories of former Cummins South Inc. of Georgia and Cummins Southeastern Power of Florida.

The Cummins Power South territory will effectively cover the states of Georgia and Florida - excluding the Florida Panhandle - along with the Chattanooga area of Tennessee and select areas of the Caribbean.

PanaSteel Building Solutions Relocates Corporate Offices

PanaSteel Building Solutions, parent company for light-gauge steel framer PanaSteel, has relocated corporate headquarters to Stuart, Fla., and opened a 25,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

First Colony Corp. Forms Health Care Affiliate

First Colony Corp., a real estate and development company, announced the formation of a health care affiliate, First Colony Healthcare, headquartered in Charlotte. The company will focus on the development of medical facilities ranging from medical office buildings to ambulatory surgery centers and long-term acute care hospitals.

HuntonBrady Recognized by FEFPA for Community College Work

HuntonBrady Architects of Orlando recently received a first-place award for its design and renovation of the Valencia Community College Health Sciences building in Orlando from the Florida Educational Facility Planners Association. The firm was recognized at FEFPA's recent annual winter conference.

The health sciences building is a remodel of VCC's physical education building, which HuntonBrady designed in 1978 and won an American Institute of Architects award. The firm converted the 28-year-old building into a $5.5 million, 79,000 sq.-ft. facility that enhances the college's ability to expand course offerings with the latest health science technologies. It includes a new multipurpose space/auditorium in the place of the original gymnasium, nursing labs which simulate hospital environments and a new student lounge.
